Cinderella Project launching in Kalamazoo this weekend

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A local formal wear shop and other local groups are hoping to help West Michigan girls feel like princesses this prom season.

They're teaming up for the Cinderella Project of Kalamazoo to make sure that every girl has a dress to wear this year.

The event used to be by referral only but now this year for the first time the event is open to all high school aged girls, you just have to present your high school i.d.

Memories Bridal and Evening Wear is sponsoring the event.

This year they have more than 1,000 dresses and accessories for girls who can't afford a prom dress and need a little help.

"It's what they dream about all year long, they look forward to," Says Adrienne Wissner the owner of "Memories Bridal" "They remember for years and years afterwards so for some girls this is their one and only chance to have to dress up and feel like a princess so for us it's something that's really important that every girl has the opportunity to do that I'd they would like to attend prom."

The Cinderella Project of Kalamazoo is this Saturday, April 6th from noon to 4P.M. at the Girl Scout's building on Maple Street in Kalamazoo.

Donations of gently used gowns and accessories from the public are welcome and accepted throughout the year at Memories Bridal & Evening Wear.

Monetary donations or gift certificates dry cleaning are also being accepted and appreciated.

Donations can be dropped off at Memories Bridal & Evening Wear, located at 203 E. Michigan Avenue in Kalamazoo.
