For every vehicle sold or leased between November 21 and January 2, Subaru donated $250 to the consumer's choice of charity.
That included 5 national charity partners.
But new this year, consumers could also choose a local charity that was picked by individual dealers.
Maple Hill Auto Group of Kalamazoo chose to collect donations for the SPCA of Southwest Michigan.
They raised more than $2,600, and when they presented the check Tuesday, they also matched the donation by half, making it an even $5,000.
The SPCA says it costs about $35 per day to take care of one cat or dog.
The money raised will help them improve the animals' quality of life and maximize adoptions.
