Cafe in Japan lets healthy eaters have their cake and eat it too
JAPAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - You can have your cake and eat it too!
A new craze is blossoming in japan thanks to a cafe owner and food stylist.
They're called salad cakes!
These sweet treats substitute cream "frosting" for tofu, while the rainbow hues that decorate the "icing" come from natural vegetable colorings like red beet juice.
For comparison, the average slice of chocolate cake without frosting has 340 calories.
A slice of salad cake has just 193 calories.
Since its debut, the cafe has created more than 50 different designs.
