Wildfire approaching buildings in Oregon

OREGON (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A wildfire burning in the Columbia River Gorge in Oregon is threatening 275 buildings, prompting fire officials to issue evacuation notices.

"Everybody is panicking just a bit. They're trying to stay calm, thinking it's not going to come this way. If the wind would just subside that would help," said resident Dora Mee.

The fire, which is burning between Hood River and the Dalles, grew to more than 200 acres in size Wednesday.

Winds expected Thursday have firefighters worried.

Fire officials haven't yet determined what caused the fire, which started around 9:00 Tuesday night.
