Three friends tortured, taped up, stabbed and sunk in river

PHILADELPHIA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Philadelphia police are investigating the horrific murders of two friends which they believe could be gang and drug-related.

Police say three friends were abducted in a van then tortured, taped up, stabbed and anchored to the bottom of a river, left to die.

Two victims were recovered Wednesday morning, but one managed to get away.

The 23-year-old survivor flagged down a car on the side of the road.

"He was walking in his underwear with his hands and feet bound, he was bleeding from multiple stab wounds," said Captain James Clark.

The surviving victim is in critical condition.

Investigators are hoping to talk to him soon to find out more, especially if the victims knew their captors.

Investigators say they do know that this incident was not a random act.
