Texas Governor charged with abuse of power

TEXAS (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Republican Texas Governor Rick Perry is pressing forward after a criminal indictment that includes a smiling mug shot and an ice cream run.

The potential 2016 presidential candidate will now lean on his high-powered legal team to try to quickly extinguish two felony charges.

Perry was booked and fingerprinted Tuesday.

He's charged with abuse of power for publicly vetoing funding for the Public Intergrity Unit unless its leader resigned following a DUI conviction.

She refused, and he pulled the funding.

"The actions that I took were lawful, they were legal, and they were proper," said Gov. Perry. "We will prevail, we will prevail."

After he was booked, Governor Perry sent a tweet celebrating with a vanilla ice cream cone.
