Snowden asks for extension of asylum
MOSCOW (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A lawyer for Edward Snowden has asked Moscow to extend Snowden's temporary asylum, which expires at the end of this month.
That's according to Russian state media, quoting the lawyer.
Snowden is the former U.S. National Security Agency analyst who leaked classified documents to the media.
He is wanted in the U.S. on charges of espionage and theft of government property.
As to how long Snowden might extend his stay in Russia, his lawyer is quoted as saying that's up to Russia's Federal Migration Service.
