Police in Thailand claim to uncover assassination plot

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Police in Thailand say they've uncovered a plot to assassinate the country's prime minister.

Officers say they discovered the plan while seizing a weapons stockpile belonging to an opposition activist, loyal to the exiled prime minister.

This weekend, authorities found dozens of rifles, grenades and thousands of rounds of ammunition at the home of the opposition leader, who's been on the run since the military coup.

Police have arrested nine men in connection to the weapons.
