(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Thanks to federal budget cuts more mail deliveries are missing evening deadlines.
That's according to the U.S. Postal Service Office of Inspector General.
The areas hit hardest are Atlanta, Washington D.C., Richmond and Arlington, Virginia and south Florida.
Those places receive mail later than 5:00pm 70-percent of the time.
Mail carriers say late deliveries put their lives in danger because it can be dark out.
The Postal Service says this is because of a shrinking work force because of smaller budgets.
