Fight over leg room on plane diverts flight

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A flight to Denver had to make an unscheduled stop after a fight about leg room got out of control.

The argument centered around a device called "The Knee Defender." The device blocks a seat from reclining backwards.

The United flight from Newark to Denver landed in Chicago Sunday after a woman threw water in a man's face after he refused to take it down, even after he was asked by a flight attendant.

Knee Defender inventor Ira Goldman says in 11 years this has never happened before.

Most say there's plenty of blame to go around.

Police investigated the incident but said it was a customer service issue.
