Fewer minors crossing the border

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The number of unaccompanied minors crossing the border is dropping significantly.

The White House says in the first two weeks of July the average number of children caught crossing along the Rio Grande border was 150.

That's down from June's average of 355 per day.

President Obama plans to meet with presidents of Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras on Friday, three countries where many of the children are coming from.

The U.S. has been urging those governments to help stop the huge numbers of children crossing the border.
