FAA bans flights from U.S. to Israel
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The FAA says it will give airlines an update by midday on its banning of flights between the U.S. and Israel.
The decision came after a rocket strike landed about a mile from the airport Tuesday morning.
Wednesday morning Secretary of State John Kerry landed in Tel Aviv despite the ban to help push along a cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.
Aviation security experts say the Malaysia airlines crash last week was likely a factor in the decision to restrict flights.
