Dutch contractor to conduct search for missing Malaysian Airlines plane
AUSTRALIA (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Australia has announced a Dutch contractor will conduct the underwater search for the Malaysian airliner that crashed off the Australian coast in March.
The vessel, carrying special sonar technology, is heading for the southern Indian Ocean.
The equipment will allow search teams to map the ocean floor at a depth of 7,000 meters.
The search is expected to begin in September and take up to a year.
Flight 370 vanished from radar with more than two hundred people on board.
