Chinese hackers were looking for employee information
WASHINGTON, D.C. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A new report claims Chinese hackers who broke into federal computer networks were trying to access top-secret employee information.
According to the New York Times, the hackers were trying to get into the files of tens of thousands of federal employees who had applied for top-secret security clearance.
The hackers gained access to some databases in March before the threat was detected and blocked.
It's unknown just how far they got into the system.
