Children struck by lightning in Texas
BEE CAVE, Texas (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A child is fighting for his life and two others have been injured after being struck by lightning on the field.
It happened just before 5:00 p.m. Tuesday in Bee Cave, Texas.
Bystanders say there was not a cloud in the sky when the lightning struck the 10-year-old, sending him into cardiac arrest.
Officials say a bystander performed CPR on the boy, who was clinically dead.
"The bystanders here on the scene started CPR almost immediately and that's a very big key to the survival of cardiac arrest," said Captain Darren Noak, with Austin Travis County EMS, who added that with pediatric patients, the chance of recovery is "very good."
EMS says the other two children--a boy and a girl--had potentially serious injuries, because the worst damage with lightning is often on the inside.
