WASHINGTON, D.C. (SINCLAIR BROADCAST GROUP) - New driverless vehicle efforts are speeding up in the U.S. Senate.

Bipartisan bills that would advance the development of self-driving technology passed a Senate panel Wednesday.

U.S. Senator Gary Peters (D-MI) says his bills would allow testing of self-driving cars on roads and provide enhanced safety oversight.

The democratic senator says self driving cars have the potential to reduce car crashes caused by human error.
