Gov. Snyder signs bill to protect seniors from financial exploitation

LANSING, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has signed a bill that will protect seniors from being financially exploited by family members.

Grand Ledge Senator Rick Jones--who sponsored the law--says it was inspired by a woman in his area, that was taken to Nevada by her son, where she was put on drug she did not need.

Her son was also appointed as her guardian, where he proceed to gamble away her savings.

This new law will take effect within the next 90 days.
