Woman killed in Wyoming shooting; suspect arrested
WYOMING, Mich. —
Police are investigating a homicide that occurred in Wyoming early Monday morning.
Officers responded to the 2100 block of Lee Street SW on a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, Wyoming police found a 25-year-old woman who had been shot. The suspect fled from the residence on foot.
Officers established a perimeter and began a search for the suspect with a K-9 track.
Police located the suspect about a mile away from the residence. The 37-year-old man was taken into custody within 15 minutes of the initial call. Police said a firearm was recovered at the scene.
Police said the suspect lives with the victim.
Investigators interviewed the suspect, and he will be lodged at the Kent County Correctional Facility.
The relationship between the suspect and victim - as well as the circumstances leading up to the shooting - is still under investigation by the Wyoming Department of Public Safety.
The identity of the 25-year-old victim is being withheld at this time pending family notification. The suspects's identity is also being withheld pending arraignment.
