Woman injured after striking police cruiser, utility pole

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A driver had to be removed from her car after hitting a police car and a utility pole.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety says an officer was on patrol Wednesday afternoon on Park Street, when a woman in her 80's, driving a station wagon westbound on Walnut Street drove through a stop sign.

The woman clipped the side of the patrol car, before smashing into a utility power pole.

Police say the woman suffered significant injuries.

The officer was not hurt.
