WMU going tobacco free

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Western Michigan University is starting off the school year tobacco free.

As of Monday, the campus is officially tobacco free.

The new policy kicks in a day ahead of the start of fall semester.

The policy applies to all WMU property in Kalamazoo and around the state.

It extends to anyone working or studying on campus, as well as visitors.

The tobacco-free initiative was adopted to help fulfill one of the goals in the university's strategic plan.
