West Michigan chiropractor accused of Medicaid fraud
WEST MICHIGAN (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette says he has filed two counts of Medicaid fraud, false claim, a four-year felony against a chiropractor from Lawton.
Schuette’s office says 53-year-old Ahad Lofti owned and operating chiropractic clinics in Hartford, Paw Paw, Bangor, and South Haven. Lofti is accused of billing supplies to the Medicaid program that were not eligible for Medicaid billing.
Schuette’s office says the Medicaid program paid Lofti nearly two hundred thousand dollars over two years for items not eligible for Medicaid billing.
Lofti was arraigned Thursday and given a $20,000 personal recognizance bond. He is due back in court on May 19th.
