Victim of Kent Co. hit and run crash has died
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The victim of a hit and run crash in Kent County has passed away.
Deputies say 66-year-old Charles Driggers died Friday.
An autopsy is underway to determine his exact cause of death.
Investigators say Driggers was riding his bike on August 17, in Cannon Township, when he was hit by a car.
Police tracked down the car suspected in the crash, and arrested Benjamin VanderPloeg, of Grand Rapids.
He has been charged with driving with a suspended license, and failing to stop at a serious injury accident.
Police say they will keep the prosecutor's office advised as to whether or not the autopsy determines that he died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.
