MATTAWAN, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man who police say barricaded himself inside his vehicle for four hours during a standoff with police is now facing multiple felony charges.
On Wednesday, police went to Nickolas Kowal's home in Mattawan to serve two felony warrants.
That's when police say Kowal barricaded himself in his car behind the Cask and Keg on Red Arrow Highway and rammed police cars in an attempt to escape.
Kowal eventually surrendered when SWAT teams deployed tear gas and was brought into custody.
Kowal was arraigned on one count of felony third-degree fleeing police in connection to a July 11th incident in Kalamazoo.
Police also plan to seek felony charges of malicious destruction of police property and felonious assault of a police officer in Van Buren County following the standoff.
