Storms whip Van Buren County

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Residents in Grand Junction and across Van Buren County are dealing with damage wrought by heavy storms coming off Lake Michigan at this hour.

A full 55 percent of Consumers customers in Van Buren County--just over 4,400--are without power at this time, with over 5,000 customers in total in the dark.

In Grand Junction, large trees were ripped from the ground due to the force of the storm.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday evening, and a flood advisory remains in place for the eastern part of the county until 6:30 p.m.
