Stolen handgun out of Kalamazoo recovered during warrant arrest
KALAMAZOO, Mich. —
Kalamazoo Public Safety helped take a suspect wanted on an outstanding warrant into custody, and found a stolen handgun.
It happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of West Paterson.
Police said they pulled over the vehicle wanted by the Absconder Recovery Unit and the Michigan Department of Corrections, but the suspect tried to take off running when officers got to the car.
During a brief struggle, police said the 37-year-old man dropped a loaded revolver. Officers grabbed it, and found it was reported stolen out of the Kalamazoo area in 2017.
The suspect was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, being a felon in possession of a stolen firearm, resisting and obstruction and possession of marijuana.
