Spectrum Health notifying hundreds of parents after sensitive information stolen
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A major Michigan hospital is notifying at least 900 parents after sensitive information was stolen.
Spectrum Health says a camera used to document patient skin conditions was stolen out of a physician's car last June.
The photos date back to mid-February, and contain information such as patient names and dates of birth.
The patients were seen at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital dermatology clinics in Grand Rapids and Lansing.
Spectrum Health says it's actively investigating this, and is taking steps to make sure it never happens again.
