Shots fired just after midnight on New Year's Eve in Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Shots fired in Kalamazoo just after families rang in 2018 landed one man in jail.

It happened in the 1300 block of Princeton Street near Paterson just after 12 a.m.

Police tell Newschannel 3 an officer spotted the suspect firing a gun from the back porch of the home.

Officers were forced to surround the home, and get a search warrant to look inside.

After getting a search warrant, police said they found two handguns, one of which was stolen out of Van Buren County, and several bags of crystal meth and marijuana inside the house.

A 54-year-old man was arrested on several felony drug and weapon charges.
