Running group organizes 4-mile event as memorial for Theresa Lockhart
KALAMAZOO, Mich. —
The Kalamazoo Area Runners is hosting an informal group run Nov. 15 in memory of Theresa Lockhart, the Schoolcraft teacher who was found dead in October, months after she was reported missing.
Lockhart, who was last seen alive in May, was an active member of the Kalamazoo Area Runners, group members said in a website announcement of the event.
The informal 4 mile run-walk begins at 6 p.m., with check-in starting at 5:30 p.m., at the Portage YMCA building, 2900 W. Centre Ave. The route will consist of a four-mile loop Lockhart often ran with the Wednesday evening group.
The run is free, but participants are asked to register through the running club’s website.
Participants are asked to wear reflective clothing and lights and follow all pedestrian traffic signals, because the run will be taking place after dark. Additionally, the course will not be closed to traffic; runners and walkers will be routed on sidewalks and paved trails.
