Remembering DC Strong founder Dustan Colyer
PLAINWELL, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A West Michigan community is mourning the loss of the founder of DC Strong.
Newschannel 3 is learning Dustan Colyer died Wednesday at the age of 23. He has been battling a rare kidney cancer on and off since the age of six.
Colyer's mother posted on Facebook to share the loss of her son.
We have been following Colyer's story on Newschannel 3 for years. He founded a local organization, DC Strong, to help other children with cancer. The group provides care packages for dozens of children across the country battling cancer.
Colyer created the group when he was still a student at Plainwell High School. They honor him and DC Strong every year during their Alumni basketball game.
