'Purr-fect' place for coffee-drinking cat lovers: K-Zoo Cat Cafe opens today
Coffee, soft drinks, snacks, and of course cats are on the menu at Kalamazoo’s newest shop: the K-Zoo Cat Café.
Opening today at West Michigan Avenue and Eldred Street, the new café is being touted as the "purr-fect" place for cat lovers. Customer can get a coffee and a snack, and play with the cats, all of which are from the Kalamazoo Animal Rescue, and are up for adoption.
The café features a self-serve coffee station as well as other drinks and snacks
Cat Café owner Abbey Thompson started a fundraising effort in the spring to get the place open. She hopes the café will lead to more cat adoptions and awareness in West Michigan.
"They live here, this is where they live until they get adopted and go to their forever home,” Thompson said. “They just hang out and people can come in and hang it with them."
The cafe is near the Western Michigan University campus; and opens at 6 p.m. today.
