Person of interest in unsolved murder back in court on unrelated charges
KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A person of interest in an unsolved murder from more than 30 years ago in Kalamazoo County was in court again on Wednesday morning.
Brent Spaulding is currently charged with drunk and disorderly conduct and trespassing.
Members of the ‘Justice for Erik’ group attended court on Wednesday, asking the judge to be hard on Spaulding, who they believe killed Erik Cross more than 30 years ago.
The judge offered to give Spaulding a year of probation on Wednesday, but Spaulding said he would rather go to trial on the most recent charges.
Prosecutors have not charged Spaulding for Cross’ death.
Spaulding is due to stand trial on the drunk and disorderly and trespassing charges on January 24th.
