Party in the Park to celebrate reading in Kalamazoo
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - It's the first day of June, and the Kalamazoo Public Library is kicking off their Summer of Reading.
Wednesday they're celebrating the annual Party in the Park in Bronson Park for National Stand for Children Day.
There will be a special story hour to showcase the importance of sharing books with young children.
Preschoolers, parents and teachers will be in the park at 10:00 a.m. to hear stories read by community leaders and costumed storybook characters.
The Summer Reading Challenge encourages kids to read a book for at least 20 minutes each day.
