Owners of Firekeepers Casino paying over $20M to State of Michigan
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - The owners of Firekeepers Casino and Hotel in Battle Creek are giving the state over $20 million to benefit state and local communities.
This is the sixth payment to the state from the Potawatomi tribe, as the funds are part of an agreement between the tribe and the State of Michigan.
Their payments have been supporting local businesses, and suppliers boosted the local economy over the years.
Nearly 20 organizations, including schools and townships, will benefit from funds this year.
