Motorcyclist killed in crash with wrong-way driver
HOLLAND, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Police in Holland say a man has died after a crash involving a GMC Suburban and a motorcycle.
It happened Sunday on 32nd Street near Apple Ave.
Officers say that a GMC Suburban was going east on 32nd Street and crossed the centerline. The vehicle collided head-on with a motorcycle driving west on 32nd.
The motorcyclist, 57-year-old David Achterhof of Holland, was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Two of people in the suburban took off on foot after the crash. All three occupants of the vehicle were eventually taken into custody as a result of their immigration status.
The 30-year-old driver of the Suburban will be charged with OWI causing injury, DWLS causing death and failing to stop at a fatal accident.
