Mother prevents attempted child abduction in Branch County
BETHEL TOWNSHIP, Mich. —
Branch County Sheriff's Office is reporting what appears to have been a possible attempted child abduction on Cranson Road in Bethel Township about 4 p.m. Sunday.
According to police, three siblings, two 7-year-old girls and a 9-year-old boy, were playing outdoors when a 2000-era silver or light gray Toyota or Mazda four-door occupied by four males, pulled up to the front of the house. The driver, described as a man with a mustache, attempted to coax the two girls to his vehicle. The mother, who saw the vehicle pull up, came out of the house to confront the driver. The driver waved and pulled away eastbound down Cranson Road.
The mother was unable to get the license plate number of the vehicle.
Branch County Sheriff's Office says they have had no reports of other attempted child abductions in the area. Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to call the department at (517) 278-2325 ext. 2173 or 2242.
