Mother of four missing, family desperately wants her home
ALLEGAN COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a mother of four vanished, seemingly without a trace.
Family members of 47-year-old Amy Harker say she has been missing for at least three days and they are desperate to have her home.
Family members describe Harker as a bubbly, outgoing person, always surrounded by caring friends. However, her daughter tells Newschannel 3 that she sent some disturbing text messages before she disappeared.
Kaylyn Korteway would much rather hear her mother’s voice than the automated cellphone voice recording she gets when she calls.
“My sister was the last one immediately to talk to her,” said Korteway.
Harker has been missing for three days and her family has no idea where she might be.
“It’s not like her to not answer her phone,” said Korteway. “It’s not like her to not have her phone charged or on her.”
Officials in Allegan are now investigating. Harker, who lives in Allegan, is described as standing 5’ 8” tall, weighing between 200 and 250 pounds and may have been wearing a black and white plaid jacket.
“She’s very easy to spot,” said Korteway. “She’s got really long, blonde, curly hair. She’s really outgoing and bubbly usually.”
Korteway would have been completely surprised by her mother’s disappearance, if it weren’t for a slew of odd text messages sent over the weekend.
“There has been some things the past couple days that doesn’t set right,” said Korteway.
Things like Harker leaving behind a lump sum of money and the title to one of her cars. One text message in particular really bothers Korteway.
“And she says ‘no, there’s something I want to do while I still can,’” said Korteway. “’I’m not doing very well honey, my lungs are filling up with fluid.’”
Harker has four children, including Korteway, who desperately want her to come home.
Korteway says police were able to ping her mother’s phone in Paducah, Kentucky, but her mother could be anywhere within a hundred mile radius if she still has her phone.
