GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Wyoming Police confirm early Friday morning they have recovered the body of missing woman Brooke Slocum and the suspect in her death and the homicide of her boyfriend Charles Oppenneer died from a self inflicted gunshot.
The scene unfolded late Thursday night after the Grand Rapids Police Department tells Newschannel 3 that Wyoming Police called them to assist with a high-risk stop around 9:15pm at Burton Street over 131.
After a short pursuit the vehicle crashed. When police approached they found the suspect dead. While searching the vehicle they uncovered the remains of Brooke Slocum in the trunk of the vehicle.
The 18 year old was 8-months pregnant. Police say the baby was also lost.
The body of Charles Oppenneer was found Wednesday around noon in a wooded area of Wyoming.
The investigation remains open and as of 1am there are still several active scenes.
A news conference is scheduled at 10am in Wyoming.
