Michigan man pleads no contest in shooting spree
MUSKEGON, Mich. (AP) - A 22-year-old Michigan man has pleaded no contest to charges he killed one man and wounded three others in a shooting spree.
The Muskegon Chronicle reports Deontay Demarco Black-Wickliffe of Muskegon pleaded to charges of second-degree murder, three counts of assault with intent to murder and one felony firearm count. He will serve at least 30 years in prison.
Alexander Bumstead of Blue Lake Township identified Black-Wickliffe as the shooter during the preliminary examination in February. In his testimony, Bumstead said Black-Wickliffe opened fire on people at a house party when an outdoor fight erupted. Gary Lee Ogreen was fatally shot in the chest after asking Black-Wickliffe, Bumstead and friends to leave.
Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 29.
