Man sentenced to over 10 years after pleading guilty to child pornography charge
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) – A man from Dorr was sentenced to just over 10 years in prison by a U.S. District Judge this week on a charge of possessing child pornography.
41-year-old Benjamin Miklusicak pled guilty to the charge in December. This charge comes after a 2004 conviction of second degree criminal sexual conduct, with a victim under the age of 13. Because of that prior conviction, Miklusicak faced a ten-year mandatory minimum sentence.
In the course of this recent investigation into Miklusicak, he reportedly admitted to a sexual interest in girls who are nine to thirteen years old and to viewing child pornography on a weekly basis. Investigators found images of child pornography on Miklusicak's laptop.
The case was part of the Project Safe Childhood initiative, a nationwide project designed to protect children from online abuse and exploitation.
