Man identified after barricade situation
KALAMAZOO COUNTY, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - We now know the name of a man accused of shooting another man, then holing up inside his Kalamazoo County home for nearly 8 hours.
53-year-old James Cubitt is facing multiple felonies, including attempted murder and discharging a firearm in a building.
It all started around 3:30 Wednesday morning at Cubitt's home on the corner of 4th Street and West O Avenue in Texas Township.
Deputies say he and another man started arguing, and swinging 2x4's at each other, before Cubitt went inside and got his rifle and shot the man.
When deputies arrived, they say Cubitt barricaded himself inside his home.
After hours of negotiations, Cubitt emerged, and was arrested.
