Man arrested after carrying machete, making threats
BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A man in is the Calhoun County Jail after carrying a machete and making threats at an apartment building.
It happened at an apartment building on Dahlia Drive, near Beckley Road, around noon on Sunday.
Witnesses tell Battle Creek police that a man, who none of the residents know, was pounding on a door -- waving a machete. They say he broke out a window screen and told people he had something for them.
When officers got to the building, they found the man, still with the machete. They say he also had backpacks full of merchandise from the Wal-Mart on Beckley Road in Emmett Township, stolen Sunday morning.
The man was arrested for home invasion and receiving and concealing stolen property. Battle Creek police say that the Emmett Township Public Safety will be seeking retail fraud charges for the stolen merchandise.
