Local pet business donates 33 pet oxygen mask kits to Kalamazoo County Fire Departments
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) —
Fire departments across Kalamazoo County are now better equipped to save the life of a family pet.
MVPets presented local fire chiefs with 33 pet oxygen mask kits, which comes with a dog mask, cat mask, small animal mask and information to help firefighters use them when rescuing pets.
Nina Kiser, MVPets store manager, said, “A year and a half ago a customer had a customer of ours that had a house fire, he lost everything.”
Kiser says customers donated more than $2,300 to help make the project a reality.
She said, “I can't tell you the amount of times I’ve spent crying in the middle of the store with a customer when they've lost a pet. And I can't imagine that happening unnecessarily.”
Kiser wants expand the pet mask project to provide pet oxygen masks to fire departments in surrounding counties.
She says over the past five years MVPets has donated more than $25,000 to charity.
