Kalamazoo in Bloom, a local nonprofit that has been planting locally grown plants and flowers in public areas throughout Kalamazoo and Portage since 1984, will be continuing their charity by holding community planting days through the next two weeks.

According to a press release, this year's theme will display mixed colors in each one of the planted flower beds. The nonprofit plans to plant at Kalamazoo's Bronson Park, City Hall, County Courthouse, Transportation Center, Arcadia Festival Place, Crane Park, Comstock Parks and Portage's City Center including Library Lane, City Hall and Portage Senior Center.

Students from Kalamazoo Central and Loy Norrix high schools, along with Maple Magnet School and Youth Advancement Academy students, volunteer with the nonprofit to make the magnificence a reality.

“We’re grateful for the awe-inspiring support we receive from the community to help us beautify these public spaces. From donors to planting volunteers to bed adopters, their continued generosity ensures our communities are welcoming and vibrant," Executive Director Monika Trahe said in a press release.
