Local Marine to be honored
HOLLAND, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Tuesday, a local marine killed while fighting insurgents in Afghanistan will be awarded the military's third-highest award for valor.
The family of Gunnery Sgt. Daniel Price will accept his Silver Star at the Central Wesleyan Church in Holland.
Tuesday is the second anniversary of his death.
The 27-year-old was killed in 2012 helping wounded as a special operations task force was assisting afghan special forces in taking back an enemy stronghold.
Price served nine years in the Marine Corps and served three tours each in Iraq and Afghanistan.
