Kalamazoo man facing multiple charges after hour and a half standoff with officers
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Kalamazoo man is under arrest after an hour and a half standoff with KDPS Officers Thursday night.
It happened around 10pm at an apartment in the 900 block of Douglas Avenue.
Police say they got a call about a man with a gun. When they got on scene a witness told officers the suspect had a silver revolver in the front pocket of his hooded sweatshirt and had been threatening to shoot someone.
The witness then showed officers the apartment where the suspect was.
A perimeter was established around the building and officers made contact with the suspect over the phone.
After an hour and a half of negotiations the suspect came out of his apartment and was taken into custody without incident.
Police did recover a loaded .38 caliber revolver during the search of his residence.
The 44 year old suspect was arrested for resisting and obstructing, felony firearm, possession of an unregistered firearm, and an unrelated bench warrant.
