Jury rejects lawsuit against Enbridge

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A Battle Creek jury has rejected a lawsuit against Enbridge over compensation for the 2010 oil spill in the Kalamazoo River.

About 800,000 gallons of oil entered the Talamadge Creek and Kalamazoo River, making it one of the largest inland oil spills in U.S. history.

Charles Blakeman Junior of Bellevue and Robert Patterson of Mason say the spill prevented them from guiding veterans on hunts in the Fort Custer Recreational Area.

The jury deliberated for about 20 minutes before rejecting their claim.

This was the first of dozens of lawsuits filed against Enbridge.
