Judge expected to rule on Michigan man's life sentence
KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - A judge will decide how long a Kalamazoo man, sentenced to life in prison as a teen, should stay behind bars.
Dallas McDade Jr. was convicted of murder in the 2010 shooting death of 38-year-old Eric Jenkins.
His mandatory life sentence without parole was overturned in June 2013.
The Court of Appeals said the sentence was cruel and unusual, and it didn't take cognitive development in young people into account.
Now 21 years old, McDade is set to be re-sentenced Friday.
Proseuctors say McDade already had a lengthy criminal record, and should stay in prison for life.
