Home shot in Kalamazoo

      KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Public safety officers in Kalamazoo have arrested a 21-year-old man after a home was shot.

      It happened Monday around 1:40am in the 900 block of Mills Street.

      Officers found several small holes in the home from shotgun pellets.

      Witnesses told police that a suspect had fled down Jackson Street. A K9 unit was brought in and tracked the suspect to the 900 block of Cameron Street where a vehicle was attempting to leave.

      Police stopped the car and found the suspect in the back seat.

      Officers executed a search warrant and found a shotgun inside the home.

      The man was arrested on charges of discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling and possession of a short-barreled shotgun. He was taken to the Kalamazoo Co. Jail.
