Habitat for Humanity completes zero energy ready home

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Kalamazoo Valley's Habitat for Humanity has built Michigan's second zero-energy-ready home.

It's a high-performance home that's so energy efficient that a renewable energy system can offset all or most of its annual energy consumption.

Habitat is hosting an informal public open house at the home until 7 p.m.

Educational displays and tours will highlight the home's special features.
