BATTLE CREEK, Mich. (NEWSCHANNEL 3) —
A day-long session brought together Battle Creek-area districts to address how to best serve students.
Board of Education members and superintendents from Lakeview, Harper Creek, Battle Creek and Pennfield school districts gathered at the Math and Science Center in downtown Battle Creek Saturday.
The seminar focused on working together to improve educational equity across the community.
Supt. Blake Prewitt, Lakeview School District
“If any one of the districts is not strong, if any one of the districts is not being able to really supply educationally what the kids need - it's all our responsibilities for districts to help each other,” Blake Prewitt, the superintendent of Lakeview schools, said. “No kid deserves less because of where they live, what their zip code is, what building they go to. we need to work together for all of the kids of Battle Creek.”
Educators said it is important to make sure all children succeed, so the Battle Creek community can succeed as well.
